Schweizer Paraplegiker-Gruppe

Holistic rehabilitation, strategically communicated

The Schweizer Paraplegiker-Gruppe (SPG) represents a globally unique network of services for the holistic rehabilitation of people with spinal cord injuries. Its activities span four key areas: Solidarity, Medicine, Research, Education, Innovation, and Integration and Lifelong Support. SPG is one of Switzerland’s most important healthcare and fundraising organizations supporting people with spinal cord injuries. The SPG’s annual report goes far beyond legal accountability. It succeeds in presenting the organization’s broad and strategic activities in a compact, focused way – tailored to its diverse stakeholders.

«With the new online report, we create transparency, strengthen our profile, and make our impact visible – for everyone who supports us or takes an interest in our work.» Manuela Vonwil, Head of Communication Development, Schweizer Paraplegiker-Stiftung

Strategy & Focus

Digital Reporting at Group and Entity LevelReporting as a strategic communication tool

To meet its strategic ambitions and effectively reach a broad range of stakeholders – including members, patients, donors, professionals, and authorities – the 2024 online report was completely rethought. Key goals included reduced volume, consolidated content, and a user-centric structure. The new corporate design was also implemented in a media-appropriate way, ensuring a consistent, modern look across all channels.

Objectives at a glance:

- Make performance visible and attract new members

- Establish thought leadership as a center of excellence in top-level medicine

- Strengthen employer branding and attract skilled professionals

- Build trust through transparent reporting on the use of funds

- Demonstrate achievements and impact: what has been accomplished with the available resources

- Meet all legal and regulatory reporting obligations

Online ReportUser-centric, focused, interactive with ns.wow

The online report was taken to a new conceptual, structural, and visual level using ns.wow. Interactive graphics, videos, and shareable story elements provide a contemporary user experience. The homepage offers an engaging entry point with relevant facts and stories – tailored to various stakeholder groups. The report also functions as a content hub to bundle strategically relevant content from the year and use it across multiple channels.

Group Report & Individual EditionsCollaborative, flexible, autonomous with ns.publish

In addition to the online group report, all ten entities within the SPG produce their own internal PDF business reports. A key success factor is high implementation efficiency, which is why the platform ns.publish continues to be used. Its familiar working environment enables autonomy, speed, and simplicity.

A particularly valued feature is the Finance plus module, which provides structured financial data mapping. It enables direct integration of financial and non-financial data from upstream systems into the layout – including validations, audit trails, and automated plausibility checks. Tables and key figures remain consistent across languages. This saves time, reduces errors, and ensures uniform, high-quality presentation at all levels.

Member MagazineHigh-quality and efficient with ns.publish

The quarterly member magazine “Paraplegie”, with a circulation of over 1 million copies, is also produced using ns.publish. The editorial team works independently within the system to create a high-quality publication with strong visual storytelling – in three languages. Magazine (Paraplegie 02/2025)

Success FactorsPhase-oriented process and synergies

The project’s success was based on a clear, phase-oriented process – from jointly defining goals, through design sprints, to technological implementation. All relevant departments within the SPG were involved: editorial, finance, sustainability, project management, and design. The collaboration was close, agile, and built on mutual trust. Significant synergies also emerged across the various projects thanks to integrated delivery from a single source: consulting, project management, and software solutions using ns.wow and ns.publish – for the online group report, entity reports, the member magazine, and the sustainability report.

Manuela Vonwil, Head of Communication Development, summarizes: “We achieved both our content and organizational goals. We managed to reduce volume while still meeting the needs of all entities. That was only possible because the systems we work with are so intuitive and efficient.”

Another key success factor was the close collaboration with the communications agency NeidhartSchön.

«The joint development of the design and system components was a major success factor. From there, working within the system becomes intuitive and almost self-explanatory. Another big advantage for the responsible team is the transparency gained. The system offers a real-time overview of progress across all departments (e.g., finance), which greatly simplifies coordination and collaboration.» Lukas Baumgartner, Senior Consultant and Member of the Management Team, NeidhartSchön
